ST. PATRICK'S PARADE WEEKEND

The 49th Annual St. Patrick's Parade!!
Sunday, March 20

...with dozens of marching bands, pipes and drums, floats, fire departments and much more on hand. From harbor to town Montauk will a sea of green, as thousands of locals and visitors flood town for a weekend's celebration.

You can begin the official fun on March 19th with a ticket to the Annual Parade Cocktail Party held on the sea at Gurney's Inn (631-668-2345). As with the parade itself proceeds benefit the local Friends of Erin scholarship fund.

SHARK TOURNAMENTS

As all serious fishermen know, Montauk is shark central, with more fins taken here than any other port on the East End. If you'd like to match wits with the best captains in the area be sure to reserve your slot in any of this year's off-shore competitions. Not only are small fortunes there for the winning, so is the more precious title of Top Hook for the New Year!

JUNE 23-25
Montauk Marine Basin - The oldest contest in town returns for its 41st year with a fleet of blue-water boats competing for money and prizes in our only catch and release tournament. For information call 631-668-5900. www.marinebasin.com

JULY 9-10
31st Annual MBCA Shark Tournament - Sponsored by the Montauk charter boat fleet, proceeds from this tournament benefit their local scholarship fund. For information call 631-668-5052.

AUGUST 4-6
19th Annual Star Island Mako Mania - The final tournament of the year offers a shot at big money and prizes. For more information call 631-668-5052.

HARBOR FEST AND DINNER

The 9th Annual Celebration of all things nautical takes place on June 11-12. Beginning at noon the harbor comes alive with enough live music, food, games and treats to float the entire fleet! Fun for the whole family and sponsored by the local Chamber of Commerce you can get more information by calling 631-668-2428.

If you’d like to get in the nautical mood be sure to reserve your seat for the fourth annual Harbor Fest Dinner. Held June 10 from 7-10 this evening honors the special camaraderie and spirit of this historic harbor. Enjoy dining, dancing, raffles, prizes, guest celebrities and much more. BLESSING OF THE FLEET

In a community where generations have gone down to the sea in ships we gather annually to celebrate our heritage and remember those who haven’t returned. On June 12 all boaters are welcome to join the flotilla as it journeys through the inlet to lay wreaths and give prayers, simply call 631-668-2428 to register. Landlubbers of all stripes are invited to watch the parade from the harbor and join in the always hearty fun beginning at 5PM.

FIREWORKS

It just wouldn’t be the Fourth of July without a night of exploding shells overhead! Be sure to grab your spot on the beach in time for the 9PM show. For more information call 631-668-2428.

MONTAUK LIGHTHOUSE

Ordered by President Washington in 1789 the old grey lady has stood watch over our coastline as iron men and wooden boats gave way to steam and oil. Learn all about her history, and climb her historic tower!

MONTAUK ART SHOWS

Home to a stellar community of local and seasonal artists Montauk offers two annual exhibits to see world caliber works. On Memorial Day weekend the local Montauk Artists Assoc. hosts their two day show on the village green. Hours are 9-6 and admission is free.

On August 19-21 the Assoc. returns to the gazebo for their annual juried event. 80 artists from here and abroad are expected to exhibit. From photography and oils to jewelry and sculpture you’ll find amazing examples of traditional and contemporary works. For more information go to www.montaukartistsassociation.org.

A NIGHT AT THE LIGHT

The Fourth Annual Celebration of Long Island Wines benefits the Montauk Lighthouse and the local Chamber of Commerce.
